'Once Upon A Time' Season 5 Opening Scene Revealed At Disney's D23 Expo

Proof that this season is going to be pretty epic.

Fans of "Once Upon a Time" got quite the treat this weekend when the first minute of Season 5 was revealed at Disney's D23 convention.

The fairy tale-based show was featured at the "Evening with Snow White & the Evil Queen" panel, with stars Lana Parrilla (Regina/Evil Queen) and Ginnifer Goodwin (Mary Margaret/Snow White), as well as series co-creators Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis, in attendance. Josh Dallas (David/Charming) also made a surprise appearance (which we're sure fans were pretty happy about).

Invision for Disney Store

During the panel, the new clip was revealed. In the scene, which picks up where Season 4 left off, we see Emma (Jennifer Morrison) getting sucked up into a vortex of evil after taking on the powers of the Dark One. Next thing we know, she's completely vanished, leaving behind her engraved dagger.

When Hook (Colin O'Donoghue) tries, and fails, to summon Emma using said dagger, it becomes clear to everyone that she may not be coming back. She's part of a whole new world now.

Watch the clip for yourself above.

"Once Upon a Time" will return Sept. 27 at 8 p.m. on ABC.
