On "Good Morning America" Monday, Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich told Diane Sawyer that he considered offering President Obama's Senate seat to Oprah Winfrey.
"She seemed to be someone who would help Barack Obama in a significant way become president," said Blagojevich, who had been discussing a replacement since before the November election. "She was obviously someone with a much broader bully pulpit than other senators."
Lynn Sweet reports that Oprah was "meditating when she got the news".
"I'm pretty amused by the whole thing," Winfrey added. "I think I could be senator too. I'm just not interested."
"If I had been watching from the treadmill I probably would have fallen off the treadmill," Winfrey said on friend Gayle King's radio show.
