An organization, Cancer Horizons, wants a name change of the historical astrological signed called “Cancer”. While this was named more 3,000 years ago by ancient Babylonians, the organization claims it wasn’t known that the name “cancer” would hold such a negative connotation as it does today. Their prosposed rename for the zodiac sign, “Cancer Free”.

“It’s an effort to create a more positive association for those born between July 20th and August 10th”, says Steve Hansen, President of Cancer Horizons.

Mr. Hansen goes on to discuss how the perils of cancer is such a devastating experience for those who have it, have had it, and have had to care for somebody who has. He questions why we’d want a zodiac sign that represents such trauma.

Recently, NASA created a new zodiac sign for those born on November 29th to December 17th called “Ophiuchus”. Cancer Horizons figures if they can do that they can easily do a rename.

If you support the proposition to rename the zodiac sign, Cancer Horizons asks that you fill out their poll and sign their petition which can be found here: https://www.cancerhorizons.com/change-zodiac-name-cancer-to-cancer-free/. The results will be shared with NASA to show how many people support the change.
