Pistorius Arrives In Court

South African sprint star Oscar Pistorius arrived at court in Pretoria on Friday morning to face a murder charge in the shooting death of his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp. The 26-year-old double-amputee who made Olympic history at the London Games had been in police custody since Thursday when the body of Steenkamp was discovered at his home. The 30-year-old model had been fatally shot in the early hours of Valentine's Day.

Pistorius arrived at court in a police vehicle and covered his face as he entered the building, according to the BBC.

According to Reuters, local media reported on Friday morning that Steenkamp was shot through the bathroom door.

Police have indicated that they will oppose any request for bail for the Paralympian, according to The New York Times.

Pistorius was initially set to appear in court on Thursday but the initial hearing was postponed until Friday, according to Reuters.

Police spokeswoman Brigadier Denise Beukes revealed on Thursday that law enforcement had previously been called to the Pistorius home over "allegations of a domestic nature."
