Oscar Pistorius Nike Ad, 'I Am The Bullet In The Chamber,' Removed From Website

Oscar Pistorius 'I Am The Bullet In The Chamber' Ad Pulled From Website

A Nike ad on Oscar Pistorius's official website appears to have been removed in the wake of allegations that Pistorius, who is sponsored by Nike, killed his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, a model and law school graduate. The ad read "I am the bullet in the chamber."

Caroline Marcus, a reporter with Daily Telegraph, tweeted a screenshot of the Nike ad early Thursday morning, just hours after Steenkamp was allegedly shot in the head by the paralympian athlete.

The ad no longer appears on Pistorius's official website. The Huffington Post contacted Nike for a comment but has not heard back yet.

Other Nike ads featuring Pistorius have included similar language invoking images of violence. As of Thursday noon, an ad that was still visible on his website (seen here) shows Pistorius alongside text that reads, in part, "This is my weapon. This is how I fight." The Daily Mail reports that this ad is from 2011.

SBNation points out that Pistorius was also featured alongside other athletes in a 2008 Nike commercial (seen below) with a voiceover that said, "This is my weapon. How I defeat my enemies, how I win my war."

The Associated Press reported that South African police responded to a call about a shooting at Pistorius's home in Pretoria early Thursday morning and found paramedics attempting to revive a woman who had been "shot an unspecified number of times." Police found a 9-mm pistol on the scene, the AP added.

CNN reported that Steenkamp's publicity agent at Capacity Relations announced Steenkamp's death on Thursday. Steenkamp had been dating Pistorius for several months, according to NBC.
