Steroids Found In Oscar Pistorius' Home After Shooting Of Girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp: REPORT

REPORT: Steroids Found At Pistorius' Home

With confirmed details in the shooting death of Oscar Pistorius' girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, remaining scarce, the family of the slain model and reality television actress has broken its silence. Pistorius remains in police custody after formally being charged with one count of murder during his appearance at the Pretoria Magistrates' Court on Friday.

"Why? Why my little girl?" June Steenkamp, the victim's mother, said to The Times in South Africa in an interview published on Monday. "Why did this happen? Why did he do this?"

Pistorius is set to appear for a bail application hearing on Tuesday but the final moments of Steenkamp's life, the nature of her relationship with Pistorius and the scene at his home remain shrouded in mystery even as unconfirmed details are filtering out in various reports.

Citing an unnamed source described as "close to the investigation" The Sun reported on Monday that "steroid drugs were found at Pistorius’s home together with evidence of heavy drinking."

This unconfirmed report from The Sun comes one day after The City Press, also citing unnamed sources, reported that Pistorius would be tested for foreign substances because his defense could cite "roid rage" to explain his alleged actions.

Steenkamp was shot four times and a 9 mm pistol was recovered at the scene, according to police.

In that same report, citing three unnamed sources described as "close to the high-profile investigation," The City Press also reported that a bloody cricket bat had been recovered at the home of the double-amputee Olympic pioneer and had become "the central piece of evidence in the unfolding murder investigation."

With these reports unconfirmed by police and his bail application hearing pending, Pistorius' agent announced on Sunday that he has canceled all future races for the Paralympian.

The 26-year-old known as the "Blade Runner" for his prostheses wept on Friday as prosecutors revealed an intent to pursue a premeditated murder charge. In a statement released later on Friday, Pistorius' family and representatives said "the alleged murder is disputed in the strongest terms."
