After a couple days of rain and the devastating news that Dave (remember Dave?!) is dating Britney (as in Spears), we at the Broke Girls Guide could use a couple days of sunshine and frolicking, couldn't you? Sure, it's not a fancy, schmancy long weekend like that flashy President's Day, but we're just as psyched for our normal-sized time off because, well, beggars can't be choosers.
To counteract how spoiled we've become with four-day workweeks, we've decided that the only way to get through this weekend is to really super-load it. No, not like that. We're talking about National Margarita Day, a concert by Kim Gordon (!!), haunted mansion tours, and (as if things couldn't get any better), a special DIY collaging event with yours truly on Friday night.
So buckle up and get ready for some fun. Oh, and try to go easy on the Instagramming--remember, your friends and family in cooler climes are still slogging around in their parkas.

Friday
Start the weekend by observing a high holiday in its own right: National Margarita Day. There are several notable deals throughout the city, but a quick pitstop at Pink Taco's El Magnum Happy Hour from 4 - 7 p.m. tonight is our pick. Not only can you get your hands on their signature Cock Fight Margarita, but you can also grab discounted bites for $7 while you're at it.
Detox your sad, abused little liver with a light and healthy dinner at M.A.K.E. before proceeding to this evening's main event (in our humble opinion): a collaging workshop that we're co-hosting with New-York-based artist Caris Reid at the Sacred Door in Venice. We hope you've already reserved your space because there are only a few spots left!
Later, cross town (yeah, sorry) to watch Kim Gordon's latest musical incarnation, Body/Head, play at Dilettante in Little Tokyo. Cap off your late night with a famous bowl of ramen from Daikokuya, which is celebrating its 11th anniversary with $5 bowls of deliciousness.
Saturday
Grab your bestie for a boozy sangria brunch at Rosa Mexicano this morning, which is conveniently discounted on Gilt City at the moment. Then, get yourself to the LA Convention Center for the LA Times Travel Show, which will either make you feel extremely envious or invigorated to save some pennies and plan an adventure of your own. Either way, the annual mega-convention is packed with treasures.
Later, grab dinner at Bäco Mercat, which we feel deserves a re-visit after it won a new round of buzz this week. Then, hop up the 110 to Heritage Square for a late-night tour of some Victorian houses. Oh, did we forget to mention that there are ghosts involved? Better bring a date.
Wrap up your evening at the Fonda, where all things steampunk are coming to fruition at the annual Edwardian Ball. If oversized gears and top hats somehow aren't your thing, there's some regular-person fun to be had at the Echo tonight, where Burger Records is hosting NOBUNNY for a performance and all-around fun time.
Sunday
To the betrothed among us: take note! You'll want to make it your business to follow the fine people at Fabulously Wed over the next few weeks. They're hosting a series of DIY wedding events that will help you put a serious dent in your "I Do" to-do's. The first is this Sunday: a DIY invitation workshop and a discussion about guestlist management.
The rest of us will likely want to dive into that holiest of all days: the Oscars. (That is, unless you were lucky enough to score tickets to see Nick Offerman tonight.) Downtown devotees should put on their finest and head to The Association for a special Oscars' cocktail menu. Meanwhile in Hollywood, Public Kitchen & Bar is definitely the place to be. Not only is it a mere stone's throw from the official action, but The Roosevelt Hotel was the site of the very first Academy Awards. Finally, in West Hollywood, Red O will be serving food specials and a $100 gift card to whomever guesses the most Oscar winners.
After the last envelope has tumbled to the ground and awards season has officially come to a close, you can rest easy knowing that L.A. will now return to some version of normalcy...whatever that means.
