Out of Sight, Out of Mind: A Look at the Forgotten Moments from the 2012 Ryder Cup

As the final match reached Medinah's 17th hole, it was still unclear who'd be drinking champagne and who'd be flying back in shame, one thing though was certain -- this would be a Ryder cup to remember.

As the final match reached Medinah's 17th hole, it was still unclear who'd be drinking champagne and who'd be flying back in shame, one thing though was certain -- this would be a Ryder cup to remember.

Coming into Sundays singles matches, Europe was down 10-6, a near insurmountable score, but with the help of a smiling golf god (Seve Ballasteros) and a speedy state trooper (Rory Mcilroy had to be rushed to the course as he nearly slept through his tee time), coach José María Olazábal's team was able to pull off the historic victory.

As the pundits rushed to make their self-evident observations, I thought it best to take a look at the forgotten moments, rather than over analyze the already beaten talking points from this years historic battle.

Here are my top five off the course moments from this years Ryder cup.

5) Bubba Watson stands in for Happy Gilmore

As Watson took to the tee in Saturdays match vs. Luke Donald, the irey Southerner called on the crowd to scream as he teed off.

4) Late night for Rory

U.S. fans chanted "Where is Rory?" As the world number one was no where to be seen. Finally, at 12:15, 10 minutes before his 12:25 tee time, McIlroy showed up, blaming Golf Channels coverage for his late arrival.

3) Tiger Wood's knocks out fan

As Thursdays practice round came to a close, Tiger Woods pulled a drive on 18 and hit Terry W. in the head. Ouch.

2) Poulter tries the Bubba... backfires

After witnessing Bubba's Happy Gilmore esque moment, Poulter attempts to do the same, with much different results.

1) NMA cartoon of Europe's victory

This amazing video really captures the key's to Europes thrilling comeback win.
