Outdoor Movie Night: HuffPost DC Top 5 For July 25

Wednesday Night: Outdoor Movie Night Around Town

TOP 5 PICKS FOR WEDNESDAY, JULY 25

1. "Vertigo" At Corner Of Norfolk And Auburn Avenues, Bethesda
Bethesda wants their movies in rapid-fire order, going with five consecutive nights rather than once a week for a few months. All the films are good but it's hard to top "Vertigo" by Alfred Hitchcock. Part of our outdoor movie summer picks. 9 p.m., all ages, no cover

2. "Protocol" At Harrison Recreation Center
The Goldie Hawn classic (that's a joke) may not be must-see cinema but the much-too-infrequent U Street outdoor film series should be attended. 7 p.m., all ages, no cover

3. "Pride & Prejudice" At The Dumbarton House
A newer outdoor film fest, this one wraps up tonight with a newer interpretation of a Jane Austin classic, the 2005 adaptation of "Pride & Prejudice." 7 p.m., all ages, no cover, reservations encouraged

4. Material Power: Pure Metal At Zenith Gallery
Sculptures from Robert T. Cole will be explained by the artist at this meet and greet. 5 p.m., all ages, no cover, exhibit open until Oct. 6

5. Liars At U Street Music Hall
A band that's different album to album is touring their sixth in 11 years, the recently released "WIXIW." Equal parts electronic music and post-punk Television, it's impossible to guess if Liars will be doing their rock and roll freakout set or noise experimentation art project. 7 p.m., all ages, $20

TOP 5 FOR THE NEXT 5 DAYS

Thursday, July 26
Benefit for MJHFund
at Cobalt
The first of many benefits for uninsured yoga instructor Michael J. Hall. A good excuse to go dancing on a Thursday night.

Friday, July 27
In the Name of Love fundraiser
at Flow Yoga Center
Another benefit for Michael J. Hall, this one will allow yoga participants an opportunity to donate to the fund while having a stretch. What's good for the body is now good for the community.

Saturday, July 28
A Lull
at DC9
Following their Pitchfork Music Festival debut, A Lull is touring their new LP "Meat Mountain." They're like all the good parts of Vampire Weekend without the feeling like you've heard it all before.

Sunday, July 29
"The Orient Express (Or, the Value of Failure)"
at Woolly Mammoth
So Mike Daisey is in town for a while performing "The Agony and the Ecstasy of Steve Jobs." While that is great, this one-off presentation of his newest, a work-in-progress about the current play's "This American Life" sordid past, is what has us excited.

Monday, July 30
Little Spoons Comedy Showcase
at 2503 Champlain Place NW
The all-female stand up showcase is moving to a new location in Adams Morgan. If you're not familiar with the stand up scene but comedy clubs seem a little off-putting, this comfortable loft space will welcome you with open arms.
