As a woman, we go through various of things. We have pap smears, ultrasounds, and yearly mammograms. Sometimes we have so many changes in our body that we don't realize whats normal or what is not. Every woman is different, every woman feels different pain. Well this is my story on how I found out I had an ovarian cyst.

Four months ago

Four months ago I had unbearable pelvic pain, from what I thought was from ovulating or from my period. I would just ease it off and tolerate the pain as if it was just a normal thing. It was a sharp stabbing in the pelvic mixed with a contraction feeling. I would just lay down and wait for it to go away. The pain would go and come back unfortunately.

Three months ago

So with the pain and everything came white discharge (not related to the cyst) and a foul odor. Thinking it was some type of change with my woman fluids it was not. Every month before I got my period it was disappear and the pain would would get stronger. I finally came to realization this cannot be normal. I've never had anything like this before, not even when I was pregnant.

Two weeks ago

The pain got really bad and I realized I cannot take the pain! I went to urgent care for acute pelvic pain. I waited about an hour and and a half to be seen. The doctor called me in looked down in my vagina and said it looked like bacterial vaginosis. The discharge and the smell came from that infection. They prescribed me antibiotics with ibuprofen for the pain and infection. Also, sex became painful and uncomfortable.

Appointment

The pain was still intolerable. Luckily my discharge and smell went away. I called a gynecologist and told him my symptoms, they were able to make me a same day appointment. They did a pap smear and he felt around my abdomen. He said " there was no lump but felt tender." He made me make a week later appointment with him for a trans-vaginal ultrasound.

Cyst

Finally at my appointment to see what was wrong. Anxiously waiting scared to see if I had cancer or not. Googling symptoms did not help at all. Undressed from waist down they did the ultrasound. My doctor went from the left to the right. Seeing nothing in my right side but once he went to the left there was a large cyst. Luckily mine is not cancerous but just know some can be. My treatment plan is take birth control pills to shrink it. If that does not work surgery will be needed.
