Owner Discovers Lost Dog's Whereabouts After Pooch Becomes Facebook Star

The owner was excited to see that the beloved pup ended up in a happy home.

Life has come full circle for one stray dog turned social media star.

Captain Ron, a rescue dog who became separated from his former owner and now lives at a Tennessee sanctuary for senior dogs, has become so popular on Facebook that his owner actually spotted photos of him on the social media site.

The owner, who reached out to the Old Friends Senior Dog Sanctuary after recognizing the beloved pup, told the facility about how wonderful it was to see the dog thriving.

“We are so happy that we were able to tell Captain Ron’s original owner that Ron is doing great,” sanctuary staff wrote in a post on their Facebook page. “They obviously loved him and cared deeply for him.”

During the sanctuary’s correspondence with 13-year-old dog’s original owners, staffers were able to find out more about Captain Ron’s past ― like how his favorite song was Simon and Garfunkel’s “Scarborough Fair.”

The dog, who lost an eye due to Blastomycosis, a fungal infection, grew up on a farm with cows and sheep. However, he disappeared from his home about two years ago, and his family had lost any hope in finding him. According to the group’s post on Facebook, the dog wound up in a shelter before eventually being taken in by the Old Friends Senior Dog Sanctuary.

The sanctuary noted on Facebook that the pooch was lucky the group was able to take him in.

“He was picked up as a stray, and because he was a senior with some health issues, he would not have made it out of the shelter alive once his three-day stray hold was up,” the Facebook post read.

Captain Ron’s owners have since moved out of state and aren’t able to take the pup back, however it’s clear he is living a life that makes him feel like dog with a bone.
