'I'm Having Their Baby,' Oxygen Network Series, Tackles Lesbian Adoption

WATCH: The Challenges One Lesbian Couple Faces When Trying To Adopt

"I'm Having Their Baby" is a series on the Oxygen network that examines the extensive range of challenges expectant mothers face when trying to decide whether or not to put their children up for adoption.

Tonight's episode features the story of a lesbian couple, Shannon and Amy, who, after experiencing issues when pursuing insemination, were offered the prospect of adopting the child of Shannon's half-sister, Christina.

"When discussing Christina's options with her, I made two things clear," said Shannon in a statement to The Huffington Post. "We would support her in whatever decision she made and the choice she made would be permanent." The episode largely focuses on the struggle Christina undergoes while trying to wade through her emotions and determine if she will have the strength to part with her child when the time comes. "I'm Having Their Baby" has tackled controversial themes in childbirth and adoption in the past, including the inclusion of a parent identifying as transgender in a previous episode.

"I'm Having Their Baby" airs Wednesday nights at 10 p.m. ET/PT on Oxygen.
