Pablo Rodriguez never wanted to be a make up artist. Instead Rodriguez started off as a fashion designer only turning to make up 'to make a bit of extra money when fashion didn't pay.' But little did he know he'd actually found his true calling.

Fast forward a few years and Rodriguez is now senior artist at MAC cosmetics, one of the biggest and most recognizable make up brands in the world, responsible for some of the most dynamic looks each season at multiple fashion weeks. He has made up the faces of runway models at Ashish and Stephane Rolland, created editorials for Love and painted Daphne Guinness' face for Harper's Bazaar. This season alone he'll be creating the looks at no less than 40 Fashion Week shows.

But when Crane.tv met Rodriguez at the new 'MAC on 3' concept store in Selfridges, it's humility, not arrogance, that emanates from him when discussing his career. "I'm influenced by film noir," he tells us before crediting much of his creativity to his firm friendship with the late Isabella Blow, from whom he "learnt so much about fashion, about beauty and style."

"Beauty is all about confidence. If you pretend to be someone that you're not, it won't work."
