Painting blogs have been loaded with images and mentions of the many fantastic exhibitions that opened last month, with much attention paid to new paintings by Bill Jensen at Cheim & Read and Joyce Pensato's Batman paintings at Friedrich Petzel. Shows by Martha Clippenger, David Goerk, June Leaf, and Edwin Dickinson were also widely discussed.
Some of the best posts, however, have been focused on what's happening in the studio. In addition to studio visits and interviews, there were posts on visual practice including Christopher Chippendale's essay Fluidity in Focus. Frank Hobbs also reacquainted readers with Mercedes Matter's enduringly relevant thoughts on valuing traditional disciplines. Ten great posts are below, and you can find more everyday on Painters' Table, the magazine of the painting blogosphere.
