This week, the Pantone Color Institute (PCI) announced the color of the year for 2014: radiant orchid! This pinkish-purple shade sits across the color wheel from 2013's color of the year -- emerald. According to PCI's executive director Leatrice Eiseman, radiant orchid is exotic, magical, and "draws you in."

Pantone's color of the year always has major influence on fashion, design and weddings. We expect to see this pretty color popping up at plenty of weddings in 2014 -- it's lush and sophisticated, and even though pink and purple are often seen as "girlie" colors, it's not overly feminine. We love it for spring and summer, but it works quite well in the fall and winter months when paired with deep colors like navy blue, eggplant, and olive green. Here are some of our favorite orchid wedding details to inspire you!

Radiant orchid is beautiful in wedding bouquets, and pairs well with all shades of pink and purple.

It's charming and modern when incorporated into your wedding decor.
