'Paradise' Trailer: Diablo Cody's New Film May Vote Democrat (VIDEO)

'Why Twitter With Satan When You Can Friend With God?'

Diablo Cody's "Paradise" will debut on DirecTV on Aug. 8, but the film is still set for a proper theatrical release on Oct. 18. With that in mind, here's the film's proper theatrical trailer (with the MPAA warning and everything).

Starring Julianne Hough as Lamb, a devout young woman who questions her faith after being "barbecued in jet fuel," "Paradise" is a coming-of-age story filled with Cody's signature witticisms and quirks: There's reference to Twitter ("Why Twitter with Satan when you can Friend with God?") and something called "The Napkin of Sin." The Oscar-winning screenwriter behind "Juno" (as well as the underrated films "Jennifer's Body" and "Young Adult") makes her directorial debut with "Paradise," and did well with at least one part of the job: casting. Hough, Russell Brand, Octavia Spencer, Holly Hunter and an unrecognizable Nick Offerman star in the film, which looks as funny as Cody fans would hope.
