'Parenthood': Dramatic Episode Tackles Teen Pregnancy And Abortion (VIDEO)

"Parenthood" has never shied away from portraying tough situations drawn from the real world, and they delved into teen pregnancy in this week's installment. Drew was stunned to find out that his girlfriend Amy was pregnant. Even more difficult for him, though, was that they were on very different pages as to how to proceed.

Amy was determined to have an abortion, but Drew didn't want that to be the only option considered.

"If I have this baby, my life is over," she told him.

"It doesn't have to be over," Drew countered. "We could start a life."

But Amy's mind was made up and there was nothing Drew could do to stop her. She went ahead with the abortion and told Drew she needed some space. There were no pat answers provided as to what the right move was in that situation, just an honest portrayal of the emotional struggles of those involved.
