Katy Perry is finally responding to speculation that her recent single, "Part Of Me," is about estranged husband Russell Brand.
After Katy Perry's performance at the Grammy Awards last month, critics and fans pointed to the song's seemingly autobiographical lyrics as possible proof: "You can keep the diamond ring/It don't mean nothing anyway," Perry sings. "In fact, you can keep everything -- except for me."
But in a recent interview with "Access Hollywood," the 27-year-old singer revealed that she wrote the song two years ago, long before she and Brand split.
So how does Perry feel about those prophetic, life-imitating-art lyrics?
"It feels like my life plays out with these songs," the singer said. "I feel like I'm in some kind of weird 'Truman Show' where I'm like, 'Why is this single appropriate now and it wouldn't have been appropriate then?' It's just so crazy."
Brand filed for divorce from Perry in December 2011, just 14 months after they wed.
Their split, which was finalized in February, was reportedly amicable -- Perry allegedly signed the divorce doc with a smiley face and Brand requested no money from his former wife, even though their lack of prenup entitled the comedian to half of what Perry had earned during their 14-month marriage.
