Pat Mahaney Attacked: 'Bored' Ohio Teens Ambushed Man, Cops Say

'Bored' Teens Ambush Man, Cops Say

Six Ohio teens knocked a man unconscious as he was walking home from the convenience store, just because they were "bored and looking for something to do," according to police.

Pat Mahaney, 45, spent four days in Mercy Mount Airy Hospital following the vicious attack by a pack of 13 and 14 year olds. The North College resident says he was planning walking home on Saturday to watch sports and drink a few beers when he felt a thump on the back of his head.

“They came from behind. They hit me,” Mahaney told the Cincinnati Enquirer. “I don’t remember telling them anything.”

Police said that doctors treated Mahaney for severe internal injuries, inserting a tube down his throat to remove blood from his stomach. Mahaney also had a tube inserted into his right nostril as well as a severely blackened left eye.

"I find this whole thing appalling and despicable," North College Hill Police Chief Gary Foust told the New York Daily News.

The boys, since released from Hamilton County’s juvenile detention center, admit that Manahey did nothing to provoke the ambush, police said.

The suspects face felony charges of aggravated riot and assault. They are under house arrest at their parents’ houses, according to NBC.

The alleged attackers are scheduled to appear in court Aug. 24.
