It's an unlikely proposition, but if Pat Robertson had his way, President Barack Obama would make a 180-degree shift in regard to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) rights.
In an installment of "The 700 Club" last week, Robertson, whose opposition to the LGBT community is well-established, suggested Obama has "an agenda against God" ahead of the president's weekend visit to Kenya, Right Wing Watch first reported.
Noting that homosexuality is illegal in Kenya and other African nations, the right-wing televangelist said that Obama would be best served by enforcing similar anti-LGBT laws in the U.S.
“One wishes that the president of the United States would listen to some of his fellow Africans, cousins,” he said,“to what they have to say because they speak truth and they speak wisdom.”
Unfortunately for Robertson, Obama did just the opposite, calling for equal treatment for everyone during his time in Kenya.
“I believe in the principle of treating people equally under the law, and that they are deserving of equal protection under the law and that the state should not discriminate against people based on their sexual orientation,” Obama said. “I’m unequivocal on this.”
