Meet Paul Hollywood, 'The George Clooney Of Baking' And 'American Baking Competition' Judge (VIDEO)

Meet 'The George Clooney Of Baking'

The British aren't typically known for their hyperbole, so we'll leave it for you to decide whether the impressively named Paul Hollywood -- judge of CBS' "The American Baking Competition" -- really is "the George Clooney of baking," as a variety of smitten Brits insist in The Huffington Post's exclusive video above.

You can get to know Hollywood before the debut of CBS' new reality baking competition, which premieres Wednesday, May 29 at 8 p.m. ET. The series will pit 10 amateur bakers against each other in three challenges each week, trying to earn the title of "Star Baker" and avoid elimination. The winner will receive a $250,000 grand prize and a publishing contract with Simon & Schuster to create their own cookbook.

Based on the UK series "The Great British Bake Off," "The American Baking Competition" is hosted by comedian Jeff Foxworthy. Chef Marcela Valladolid will join Hollywood as judge.

Paul Hollywood is one of the UK’s leading artisan bakers and has served as a judge on the hit UK format “The Great British Bake Off” for three seasons. The son of a baker, Hollywood established himself as a baking innovator working in some of the most exclusive hotels in the world, including the Dorchester in London, before he cemented his reputation as the leading authority on bread-making with his book, 100 Great Breads. Hollywood’s second book, How To Bake, was published last year and was a best-seller. His new series, “Paul Hollywood’s Bread,” debuts March 2013 in the UK on the BBC.
