Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), who unsuccessfully ran for vice president in 2012, weighed in on the loss while speaking at the 2014 Conservative Political Action Conference.
"The 2012 election didn't go exactly as we had planned it," Ryan said. "Last year... it was pretty tough to be optimistic after a loss like that. A year later, I think there are a lot of reasons to be optimistic. You know why? I think the left is exhausted."
