A Connecticut mother chased an intruder out of her home and pinned him to the ground until police showed up.
52-year-old Pauline Bragg said she was asleep Sunday night when she noticed a stranger standing inside, holding a flashlight, the Courant reports.
Bragg followed her instinct to jump up and chase the suspect, identified by police as Ramon Rivera, outside.
"It was a reaction, you know," Bragg told NBC.
The mother of one says that she and Rivera "got in a scuffle" when they got outside, and that Rivera hit her with a nearby two-by-four.
Though Bragg called to her neighbors for help, she says that no one came to her aid, according to NBC.
“I looked right at them and said, 'Get over here and help me.' And you know, nobody wants to get involved,” Bragg said.
Someone did call 911, however, and when police arrived, Rivera allegedly told officers that Bragg was his ex-girlfriend. However, officers soon determined that the two had never met.
"He said, 'I don't want to be with you anymore,'" Bragg explains, "trying to make it sound… like I was a crazy woman trying to keep her man."
Rivera is facing charges of assault, burglary, criminal mischief and larceny. He is being held on $200,000 bond.
Bragg isn't the only person to have defended their home this summer.
In July, the legally blind Tom Guzzi fought off robbers in his home with a kitchen pot.
The month before, 72-year-old Louisiana woman joined her son in thwarting a burglar in their home. Despite being armed with a crowbar, the burglar ultimately ended up with more injuries than either of the victims.
