The Peabody Awards are the oldest honors in broadcasting, and honor excellence in electronic media. CNN and NPR won the prestigious award for their coverage of Syria, one of the deadliest places in the world for journalists. ABC News won for its coverage of Hurricane Sandy.
The network also received an award for "Robin's Journey," a series of pieces about Robin Roberts' struggle with MDS, a rare blood and bone marrow disorder, and her efforts to raise awareness about bone marrow donation.
"60 Minutes" will take two awards home, as well. The New York Times won for its feature "Snow Fall: The Avalanche at Tunnel Creek," which drew accolades for its impressive design in December.
