People take their peanut butter and jelly sandwiches very seriously -- and with good reason, too. Peanut butter and jelly is THE sandwich that was there for us when we were kids; there for us when were too broke/lazy/uninspired to eat anything else; there for us when we craved the perfect balance of salty and sweet. In other words, PB&Js are the most reliable, comforting sandwich on the planet Earth. It's like the food equivalent of a hug -- and that's not something to be taken lightly.
We can all agree that peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are basically the most perfect food on the planet, but the thing that makes this sandwich so perfect varies from person to person. Some people swear by smooth peanut butter (not this editor, by the way). Others believe that only strawberry jelly pairs well with peanut butter. And then there are some who refuse to take a bite if there's any crust to be seen.
We want to get to the bottom of what makes a truly perfect PB&J, and we need your input. Tell us: what do you think makes the perfect peanut butter and jelly sandwich? Vote in the poll below -- and if we missed something let us know in the comments.
[Note: In these days of almond butter, cashew butter, and other nut butter alternatives, we know there are so many other ways to make a PB&J. But for the purposes of this poll, we're sticking to the classic peanut butter.]
