Peter King: Marco Rubio Can 'Forget It' After Sandy Aid Vote

Peter King: Rubio Can 'Forget It'

Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.) slammed Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) Friday for going to New York to raise money after voting against Sandy aid.

"And by the way, guys like Marco Rubio in Florida. All the money that your people have gotten in Florida over the years from every hurricane that came along," King said on MSNBC's "Morning Joe." "And this guy has the nerve to vote against money for New York and then come up here and try to raise money. You know, he can forget it."

"I made it clear any of those people who voted and postured against money coming to New York and New Jersey and comes up here and wants to take money out of our pockets -- forget it, stay home," he said.

King softened the blow by adding that he thought Rubio would be a "great candidate" in 2016. But when asked directly if he would "forgive and forget," King said, "No, I won’t. And I never will."

Rubio voted against a Sandy aid bill in January, on the basis that it was full of pork. In February, King said that Rubio had some "balls" for trying to raise funds in New York after voting against the bill.

King slammed House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) for delaying a Sandy aid vote in January. He then said that he had worked things out with Boehner.

But on Friday, he made it clear that the wounds had not healed. "My relationship with Congress will never be the same again. They made us wait 90 to 100 days to give the most basic human aid that is required. It's absolutely disgraceful," he said. "And when I see these Republicans, we slap each other on the back, all the camaraderie, 'Hey, we're great friends.' All I know is there were people who were close to dying in my district and no one gave a damn."
