Peter LaBarbera, Anti-Gay Activist, Says 'Yuck' To Thought Of Gays Consummating Their Marriage

Gay Guys Consummating Their Marriage Is Gross, Anti-Gay Activist Says

A prominent anti-gay activist has boiled his argument against same-sex marriage down to one word: "yuck."

Peter LaBarbera, president of Americans For Truth About Homosexuality, claimed last week that the act of homosexuality is inherently gross.

Speaking on the conservative Christian Janet Mefferd Show on March 7, LaBarbera argued that “homosexual so-called marriage" is "wrong" and "absurd" since lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) couples can't consummate the contract, Right Wing Watch notes.

"If you want to just think of how wrong homosexual so-called marriage is just ask yourself: How do two guys consummate their marriage?" LaBarbera asked. "Yuck."

"The whole concept is absurd," LaBarbera continued. "It’s not marriage. You know one angle that I’m going to be writing about Janet is if you’ve got homosexual so-called marriage legalized you’re going to end up teaching gay sex-ed, there is no way around it."

LaBarbera did not immediately return The Huffington Post's requests for comment.

The Illinois-based Americans for Truth About Homosexuality (AFTAH) was founded by LaBarbera in 1996, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center, which considers the organization a hate group.

On its website, AFTAH states:

AFTAH seeks to apply the same single-minded determination to opposing the radical homosexual agenda and standing for God-ordained sexuality and the natural family as countless homosexual groups do in promoting their harmful agenda.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, this isn't the first time the group has made headlines for its anti-gay sentiment.

In the past, AFTAH has said "there appears to be a disproportionate incidence of pedophilia in homosexual (male) history." In 2011, it also hosted a banquet in honor of controversial evangelical Scott Lively that was met with protests from LGBT activists.
