Finally, there's a cause we can all get behind.

A petition to have Deadpool (yeah, the fictional character) host an episode of "Saturday Night Live" is gaining superhuman momentum online. After trending on Facebook, it now has more than 50,000 signatures and is quickly approaching a goal of 75,000.

The Change.org petition, which was started by "Deadpool" fan Andrew Stege, was apparently made to get the idea "churning" in the heads of the "powers that be" at "SNL."

"How would this not be hilarious having Deadpool in sketches, breaking the 4th wall, and inserting some of his brand of humor (obviously toned down a bit for network television)!?!?!" writes Stege. "There's unlimited possibilities!!!"

"Deadpool" is currently breaking box-office records and will reportedly pass $200 million domestically by the end of the weekend.

The demand seems like it's there, but how will "SNL" respond?

Reps for the show were not immediately available for comment ... probably because they were out watching "Deadpool."

If you also want to make a difference, sign the petition here.
