Phil Jackson Agrees To Join Knicks Front Office: REPORTS

REPORTS: Phil Jackson Returning To Knicks

Phil Jackson's reunion with the New York Knicks is almost officially official.

Amid media reports on Friday that Jackson had finally agreed to take over the team's front office, the Knicks scheduled a press conference that will include a "major announcement" for Tuesday. Jackson, 68, won 11 NBA championships as the head coach of the Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers and two as a player with the Knicks.

Citing an unnamed NBA source, Scott Cacciola of The New York Times reported that Jackson's hiring will be announced at the press conference. While the Knicks remained vague in their statement about the upcoming press conference, reports that a deal had been finalized proliferated.

The Knicks' courtship of Jackson played out in the media in the days leading up to the announcement of the press conference, with various parties prematurely declaring the reunion complete along the way.

The New York Post reported earlier in the week that an agreement in principle had been reached between Jackson and the team. Jackson's contract is expected to pay him $12 million per year, Ramona Shelburne and Chris Broussard of ESPN reported.
