Phillie Phanatic SUED By 75-Year-Old Woman

The Philadelphia Phillies are dealing with some tough times now that Chase Utley and Placido Polanco are on the DL. And now the Phillies mascot, the Phillie Phanatic, is in some trouble of his own. The Philadelphia Daily News reported that the mascot has been sued by a 75-year-old woman.

Grace Crass claims that during a 2008 Reading Phillies minor league game, the Phanatic climbed into the stands and onto her legs, injuring her knees.

John Speicher, Crass' attorney, said he expects the Phanatic "to come to a deposition, stick his stomach and his tongue out at me and not say anything."

Speicher also said that the incident "set off the arthritic process [in his client], and in fairly short order she needed a lot of medical treatment." Crass needed to get knee replacements.

Crass is seeking $50,000 in damages from Tom Burgoyne, the man who plays the Phanatic, along with both the Philadelphia Phillies and Reading Phillies.
