Phillip Calderon Charged With Falsifying Documents After Posing As Binghamton Student

Philip Calderon, a 37 year old man who allegedly posed as a Binghamton University student for the last two and a half years, was arrested on Wednesday and charged with falsifying business records in the second degree -- a class A misdemeanor.

According to the Press & Sun Bulletin, Calderon's identity was revealed when he applied for a position on the Off-Campus College Transportation board of directors. On the application, the Calderon wrote that he was a student and used a false birth date that indicated he was 27.

Binghampton Student Assembly President Jared Kirschenbaum told the Pipedream that the SA was "disappointed and shocked" by the allegations. For the past two years, Calderon had lead the Rainbow Pride Union, a campus GLBT advocacy group.

According to the Bulletin, Calderon pleaded guilty to third-degree sexual abuse in January 2008.

Calderon maintains that he is innocent, telling the Bulletin that he "entered the plea at the instruction of my lawyer."

Calderon did not comment on the most recent charges. His arraignment is set for Oct. 19.
