Hordes Of Naked Cyclists Overtake Philadelphia

So many birthday suits.

What better way to promote positive body image, encourage fuel conservation and advocate for cycling than to ride a bike nude through the streets of Philadelphia?

On Saturday, about 3,000 people participated in the eighth annual Philly Naked Bike Ride, according to the Associated Press, taking to the streets wearing their underwear, body paint or in many cases, nothing at all.

The clothing-optional event was part of the World Naked Bike Ride movement and was a “bare-as-you-dare” occasion. Riders were also encouraged to use body paint to “share their own message.” Organizers even sought out volunteers and artists to help paint bodies at the 10-mile event, which began near the “Rocky Steps” at the Philadelphia Museum of Art and meandered past some of the city’s most notable sites.

The event’s official website also had some key tips for cyclists worried about the discomfort of sitting on a bike seat while naked.

“If you are renting a bike, we strongly recommend wrapping [something soft around] your seat,” the site stated.

The City of Brotherly Love embraces the annual au naturel ride, but one has to wonder if the betrothed couple in the photo below knew they had planned their nuptials on the same day as the event.
