This is a story all about how one picture has made the internet flip, turn upside down.
Thanks to a recently shared video, we all saw Will Smith live out a longtime dream of his when he bungee jumped off the Victoria Falls Bridge over the Zambezi River, which borders Zimbabwe and Zambia. What you might’ve missed is one brief snapshot that has the internet losing its mind.
Yep. Someone pinpointed a moment in the video where an upside-down Smith looks sort of like Uncle Phil (James Avery) from “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.”
The image blew up on Reddit, shooting to the front page. According to Imgur, it gained more than 300,000 views in its first 15 hours.
And the internet can’t deal.
Smith, who’s 48, is actually older than Avery was at the beginning of “Fresh Prince” (he was in his mid-40s). But don’t expect the actor to take his salt-and-pepper beard and step into Uncle Phil’s shoes anytime soon.
After Avery’s death in 2013, “Fresh Prince” star Alfonso Ribeiro said the show wouldn’t have a reunion. Smith himself gave a more optimistic prediction, saying it could happen “when hell freezes over.”
But for everyone clinging onto nostalgia, if you’d like to take a minute, just sit right there, this is how Will Smith briefly became the uncle from “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.”
