Iranians celebrated at home and in the streets on Tuesday, hours after negotiators for Iran and six world powers announced in Vienna they had brokered a historic deal years in the making.

Tuesday's deal will curb Iran's controversial nuclear program in exchange for sanction relief. Many in Iran hope that the agreement will bring an end to Tehran's international isolation and that prospect of sanctions relief will allow the economy to recover.

"Today is the end to acts of tyranny against our nation and the start of cooperation with the world," Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said in a televised address on Tuesday.

People came out in droves in some parts of Tehran after dark on Tuesday, Reuters reports. Young people honked car horns and danced in the streets. Many carried posters of Rouhani and shared photos of the festivities on social media.
