Pierce Curry, Chicago Teen, Dies After Being Shot In The Head During Drive-By Shooting

17-Year-Old Boy Killed During Drive-By Shooting

A 17-year-old Chicago boy has died after he was shot in the head during a drive-by shooting in Washington Park, police say.

According to authorities, Pierce Curry was in the backseat of a vehicle passing through the 6200 block of South State Street around 1:30 a.m. when another car pulled up alongside it and opened fire. The Sun-Times reports two bullets struck Curry in the head. He was the only person in the vehicle who was hit.

Less than an hour later, Curry was pronounced dead at an area hospital.

According to the Tribune, an officer writing a parking ticket was close enough to hear multiple gunshots and called it in, though police have no suspects in custody as of Tuesday afternoon.

Two men were non-fatally wounded in a possible drive-by shooting in Englewood just a few hours before Pierce's fatal shooting. DNAinfo Chicago reports the men, ages 27 and 28, were standing outside in the 5500 block of South Shields Avenue about 9:50 p.m. Monday when shots were fired. Both men were hit, and a dark-colored car was reported fleeing the scene.

The two were treated at area hospitals and police continued to investigate the Englewood shooting Tuesday.
