Pippa Middleton: It's Startling To Be Recognized Because Of Your Sister & Bottom

Let's just say she has no qualms about discussing her, um, assets.

The world was pleasantly surprised when the British royal wedding's breakout star turned out to be the bride's sister Pippa Middleton (and her Justin Timberlake-approved derrière). But the person most surprised had to be Pippa herself.

"It is a bit startling to achieve global recognition before the age of 30 on account of your sister, your brother-in-law and your bottom," she wrote in her new party-planning book Celebrate. "One day I might be able to make sense of this. In the meantime, I think it’s fair to say that it has its upside and its downside."

A major upside? Landing a £400,000 book deal as an unpublished author (unless you count The Party Times, the online magazine she edits for her family’s business). And even though Pips considers herself "a typical girl in her 20s," we suspect she's definitely enjoying all of the jet-setting, glamorous partying and luxurious apartment-hunting that came with being Prince William's sister-in-law. Oh, and it couldn't have hurt her ego when her now-infamous rear-end sparked a plastic surgery craze aptly titled the "Pippa Butt Lift."

As for the downsides, we're sure that pesky gun incident and Karl Lagerfeld saying that he doesn't like her face top that list. Overall, however, Pippa seems pretty grateful for her sudden it-girl status."I certainly have opportunities many can only dream of," she writes. Despite the fact that the royal's sister hasn't exactly jumped at the chance to speak her mind in a sit-down interview just yet (she even reportedly turned down Oprah!), Pippa addresses the fact that her sister Kate Middleton may be the only reason for her public recognition:

"I know many of you will pick up the book out of nothing more than curiosity. [But] I can assure you that it feels even stranger to me than it probably does to you to have seen so much written about me when I have done so little to paint a picture of myself. This is my first chance to do that, and I’ve enjoyed every minute of it."

Well, we're certainly looking forward to getting to know Pippa a little bit better. But what about you? Will you be picking up a copy of Celebrate when it goes on sale at the end of the month?

Exclusive extracts from Celebrate are from a special 24-page pullout in today’s You magazine. Another round of sneak-peak quotes from Pippa's new book will be in next week's issue.
