'Pitch Perfect' Video: Rebel Wilson Has Alternate Explanation For Brittany Snow's 'Nodes'

WATCH: First Clip From 'Pitch Perfect'

"Pitch Perfect" seems all set to follow in the footsteps of "Clueless," "Bring It On" and "Mean Girls" as the next great teen girl comedy. The film stars Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Brittany Snow and Anna Camp as members The Bellas, an all-girls singing group determined to defeat their male counterparts during a campus competition. (Think "Glee" plus some Toros in the atmosphere.)

The a capella comedy -- which is already getting rave notices, like this one from Movieline's Jen Yamato -- was produced by Elizabeth Banks and features covers of Kelly Clarkson, Miley Cyrus, Sia, Madonna and even Ace of Base. None of those performances are highlighted in this first clip from "Pitch Perfect," however, which instead focuses on the film's comedy aspect -- and what looks like another breakout performance from Wilson ("Bridesmaids," "Bachelorette") playing a character named "Fat Amy."

"In the script the character is called ‘Fat Amy,’ so it’s really hard to send it to actresses,” Banks said at a screening of the film on Tuesday night (via Movieline). “Rebel recognized what an iconic character Fat Amy would be.”

Check out the "Pitch Perfect" clip above. The film opens in limited release on Sept. 28 before expanding wide on Oct. 5.
