Houdini: Art and Magic

The opening day of an exhibition featuring biographical and historical artifacts about and contemporary art inspired by Harry Houdini. Exploring Houdini as an individual and enduring cultural phenomenon, the exhibition includes more than 150 objects including film clips, period posters, dramatic theater ephemera, photographs, props, and original artists work.

Public Reading of Homer's Iliad

INCOGNITO 2011

SMMoA's annual art exhibition and benefit, INCOGNITO returns for its seventh year, featuring original works by 500 contemporary artists. Sophisticated patrons and first-time collectors alike are encouraged to trust their instincts to guide their selections. Each 8" x 10" work is signed on the back and artist identities are revealed only after purchase. The evening will include food by Lene, a DJ Set by Enorbito and Ganas of Mas Exitos, and a wide range of libations. 55th Annual Art & Architecture Tour

LACMA presents a Southern Californian home tour where each home is chosen for its art collection and architectural design. Docents will provide unique details of each home's art and architecture and four homes will be featured on all tours. See a true Paul Williams colonial juxtaposed against cutting-edge contemporary art; an original John Byers home restored by a contemporary architect and highlighting a Japanese photography collection; a prime example of California rustic contemporary architecture featuring collections of modern art; a 1930s Mediterranean estate, and more. Included is a special project boutique featuring unique sculpture, ceramics, and jewelry.
