From January 19-January 29, this festival celebrates Los Angeles' postwar history of performance art through a contemporary lens, with a series of adaptations, re-inventions, and commissions that are inspired by the installation and performance artists working in Los Angeles between 1945 and 1980. Each night, Black Box will be the place to meet, drink, talk, and enjoy exciting programming and different surprise performances. Download the official guide here. Art Los Angeles Contemporary Opening Night Reception
The Barker Hanger (Santa Monica)

The Art Los Angeles Contemporary is an art fair that presents in 70 international galleries. Opening night marks the recreation of Judy Chicago's "Disappearing Acts," where the artist and Materials & Applications will install 25 tons of dry ice into formations that will shroud the environment in fog. There will also be an occult ritual performance and film by Brian Butler, "Union of Opposites," on Saturday, January 21 at 5 p.m. in the Ruskin Theatre. Admission to the opening night reception is $40 online/$45 at the door. The fair will be open January 20 and 21 from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. and on January 22 from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. A one day pass is $13 online/$18 at the door. Tickets are available online. Daniel Arsham: The Fall, The Ball, and The Wall

For Daniel Arsham's first solo show in Los Angeles, the artist continues his interest in manipulating architecture and challenging expectations of realities with three bodies of work that play with illusion and perception. On view through February 16, 2012.
Ken Price and Larry Bell

This Pacific Standard Time exhibition explores the divergent paths taken by sculpture artists Ken Price and Larry Bell, who both started their careers in the early 1960s at the influential Ferus Gallery in Los Angeles. On view through March 3, 2012.

An exhibition of sports lithographs from the archives of John and Tock Costacos, who built a reputation for their "fantasy" sports posters. In addition to these works, pieces will be presented from Jeff Koons' first solo exhibition Equilibrium, which took place in 1985 and included basketballs in tanks, cast bronze sculpture, and framed advertising posters on view through March 4, 2012.
