Ohio University in Athens is the No. 1 party school in the nation, a new ranking by Playboy magazine declared on Monday.
Playboy decreed the University of Iowa and Florida State University the runners up in their list. Princeton Review's recent top party schools, Syracuse University and the University of Illinois, come in at seventh and fifth respectively.
The magazine's editors made up the ranking based on "a variety of factors in their selection process, including access to nightlife and musical events, and creativity when planning social gatherings," as well as reader feedback.
The top 10 party schools in 2015 according to Playboy:
- Ohio University
- University of Iowa
- Florida State University
- Tulane University
- University of Illinois
- University of Texas
- Syracuse University
- University of Wisconsin
- University of Mississippi
- University of Michigan
The ranking is a big shakeup compared to last year's list, which placed the University of Pennsylvania as No. 1. UPenn was not among 2015's top 10, and Ohio University was not in the top 10 at all last year.
Playboy has published its ranking intermittently in 1987, 2002, 2006, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014.
OU is frequently cited as the nation's top party school by the website BroBible. Princeton Review crowned it as the champ in 2011.
