Plus-Size Model Emme Talks Industry Pay Scale

Model Emme: Skinny Girls Get Paid More

The world's highest-earning plus-size model, Emme, doesn't consider herself overweight but insists it's difficult for ladies of her size to make the kind of money super-skinny models do.

"You wish you had the same pay scale as the other girls, but that was modeling," Emme tells me on the set of my HDNet talk show "Naughty But Nice."

"Now, I am more into entertainment and TV work. But back when I was a model, it was really hard. It's very difficult to get the advertising campaigns and to get the designers to open their aperture as to what beauty is. And that hasn't changed, unfortunately."

Emme is angered by the fact that many women do not see their body types represented on the runway, arguing that although she's not a Victoria's Secret model, she's very athletic and is in great shape.

"I was actually a jock and athletic," Emme says, joking that a lot of models are angry because they can't eat. "It's not about us versus them. I think women who are struggling, struggling and struggling to be like them hate the fact that that is the image of beauty. Because they are working so hard to be so thin. It's hard work not to eat!”

To see my entire interview tune into "Naughty But Nice" Thursdays at 8:00 PM on HDNet.
