The 2016 campaign has produced some memorable television.
From funny spots to ads that had you reaching for the tissue box, this election cycle exemplified the staying power of political advertising.
Here are some ads from 2016 campaigns that we won’t soon forget:
1. A woman begs Texas voters to please elect her husband, who can’t stop prattling about politics around the house. Bonus: hilarious eye-roll action.
2. Democratic Missouri Senate candidate Jason Kander had perhaps the ad of the cycle when he assembled an AR-15 while blindfolded ― to show his support for background checks.
3. Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) dodged a fountain of baby pee in a humanizing ad that featured his wife and daughters.
4. Khizr Khan, the father of a Muslim American war hero, starred in a tear-jerker produced by Hillary Clinton’s campaign. In the ad, Khan asks Donald Trump if his son, who was killed in Iraq in 2004, would “have a place in your America?”
5. The team for Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) used Simon and Garfunkel’s “America” to great effect in this warm and fuzzy ad.
6. A saucy elderly woman is bleeped several times as she criticizes Rep. Scott Garrett (R-N.J.) in this ad for New Jersey congressional candidate Josh Gottheimer.
7. The presidential campaign of Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) produced a visceral ad about illegal immigration that depicted bankers and lawyers wearing suits and running across the border.
8. Libertarian Rick Stewart, a county sheriff candidate in Iowa, produced a series of zany ads about the drug war.
9. Colorado Senate candidate Darryl Glenn isn’t the first person to tout his physical fitness while running for office ― but he may be the first to feature footage of himself, clad in Under Armour, actually working out in a gym.
10. Trump speaks Hindi in an attempt to appeal to Indian-American voters in this unusual ad, which his Indian-American Advisory Committee produced.
11. Save The Day, a super PAC launched by film director Joss Whedon to urge people to vote, produced a spectacular, no-dialogue ad featuring a woman who grapples with a cacophony of voices at work and at home. But when she steps into the voting booth, she quiets the noise with a close of the curtain.
12. Right to Rise USA, a super PAC supporting Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R), mocked primary rival Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) for wearing heeled boots ― and for flip-flopping on issues like immigration and cap-and-trade ― in this humorous spot.
13. A conservative super PAC produced a brutal ad featuring children counting down to a nuclear explosion, a criticism of Democratic Wisconsin Senate candidate Russ Feingold’s support for President Barack Obama striking a diplomatic deal with Iran.
14. Clinton’s campaign produced an ad featuring Monique Luiz, the girl from the iconic “Daisy” ad of 1964, to argue that Trump lacks the stability and temperament to have control of the U.S. nuclear arsenal.
15. A super PAC urging Vice President Joe Biden to jump into the presidential race produced a spot based on the story of the 1972 car accident that killed Biden’s first wife and their 13-month-old daughter. The group pulled the ad after the vice president said it treaded on “sacred ground.”
