Polluter Harmony (VIDEO): The Dating Service For Environment-Hating Politicians

It's hard to be loved when you're an environment-hating legislator. That's where Polluter Harmony comes in, a send-up website developed by Greenpeace that imagines what matchmaking service for polluters, industry lobbyists, and politicians would be like.

From Polluter Harmony's website:

It takes strong relationships and the right chemistry to devise schemes that successfully evade or destroy environmental regulations. Sometimes, members of Congress, polluters, and lobbyists are so busy that they don't have time to find those perfect relationships. Plus, now that the Supreme Court has removed restrictions on corporate electoral spending, it's more important than ever to find the right match. Isn't it worth it, to make sure your corporation's or client's money turns into a fruitful relationship?

That's why we've created PolluterHarmony, the #1 matchmaking service for polluters, industry lobbyists, and politicians. Now it's easier than ever to buy and sell influence in order to sabotage America's clean energy future.

Polluter Harmony's ad uses an actor to portray Jeff Holmstead, a lobbyist and former Bush-administration official, giving a testimonial of how finding Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) was like a match made in environmental hell.

"Lisa's profile really jumped out at me: willing to ravage the environment, desperate for cash, able to justify her actions with ease," actor Holmstead says. "And I thought to myself, 'Perfect for me.'"

There is a serious message here-- to expose politicians, like Murkowski, who take money from big industry lobbyists, like Holmstead, and then use their influence to say, block the EPA from regulating greenhouses gases.

But it's also seriously funny.
