As the leader of the Catholic Church, Pope Francis has the opportunity to wear a wide variety of official headgear, but we think this is one of his best looks yet.
As he rode around St. Peter's Square in his Popemobile, waving to the crowd, he stopped to greet a group of Italian voluntary firefighters dressed in black and yellow, who handed him a fire helmet.
"Shall I wear it?" he asked, before popping it onto his head, drawing smiles and applause, reports The Telegraph.
The pope has made it a habit to greet the thousands of faithful who come to St. Peter's Square to attend his weekly audience by personally driving around for 30 minutes. He smiles, kisses babies, touches hands, and interacts with the people.
A people's Pope indeed.
