Popeyes Testing Breakfast At Single Market In North Carolina

Popeyes Gives Breakfast A Test Run

Popeyes for breakfast? Beginning today, the fried chicken chain is experimenting with a two-day breakfast menu at a single location in Mooresville, N.C.

According to a press release, the breakfast includes items like grits; bacon, sausage or chicken breakfast wraps; a country fried steak biscuit; a sausage, egg and cheese biscuit; a bacon, egg and cheese biscuit; a "Louisiana's Best Chicken" biscuit; and a "Blackberry'n Cream Cheese Turnover." We imagine the aforementioned biscuit items are made with the same rolls for which the chain is famed.

The breakfast items will only be available on May 16 and 17 from 6:30 to 10:30 a.m. Popeyes currently does not offer breakfast, except at a few airport locations.

However, HuffPost did find an ad from 2012 for a Popeyes location in Maryville, Tenn. that suggests the chain has experimented with breakfast before. But although the notice says the location would "begin serving breakfast daily" beginning April 1, HuffPost was unable to find evidence that the breakfast offerings were still available. Perhaps it was an April Fool's joke?

The Huffington Post reached out to Alicia Thompson, Popeyes's vice president of communications and public relations, who would not speculate on what the test means for the future of the chain. "We are testing a breakfast menu in one market. We do not want to speculate as to future plans for the menu," she said in an email.
