Poppy Montgomery's 'Unforgettable' Fans Have Been Pranking Her

Poppy Montgomery's show, "Unforgettable," returned for its second season this week on CBS. On "Late Night," she told Jimmy Fallon about a prank that fans of the show love to play on her. It all has to do with her character having hyperthymesia, or "highly superior autobiographical memory." That means, quite simply, that she recalls exactly everything that she's ever experienced in her life to the smallest detail.

Montgomery, on the other hand, does not have this kind of powerful memory. "Some people will come up to me in the street and be like, ‘Remember me? You remember me? We met! You remember me!’ and I’m like, standing there thinking, ‘Oh my God,'" she said. "I’m thinking I know them, and I’ve forgotten them, so I’m like, ‘No, yes! I remember you!’ And I’m smiling, and they’re like, ‘Just kidding! ‘Unforgettable,’ right?’”

That joke wouldn't work on actress Marilu Henner, though, as Henner does have hyperthymesia. The "Taxi" actress serves as a consultant on "Unforgettable."

Now, Montgomery, Henner and CBS can only hope that fans of the show remember that it exists on Sunday nights. The season premiere was down 55 percent from the first season. But since then, "Unforgettable" has been cancelled, resurrected, moved to the summer and even dropped in a new time slot.

Catch Poppy Montgomery in "Unforgettable," Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on CBS. "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" airs weeknights at 12:37 a.m. ET on NBC.
