APPLE ALLY: Pornographers Ditching Flash For HTML5

Even though Steve Jobs has promised "freedom from porn" and banned adult apps from the App Store, pornographers are still willing to take his side.

According to ConceivablyTech, Digital Playground, a major "porn heavyweight" in the US, has become Apple's unexpected ally in the face-off with Adobe Flash. ConceivablyTech explains Digital Playground has said "that it will abandon Flash as soon as the desktop browsers fully support HTML 5."

To many users' dismay, Apple does not allow Adobe Flash on its iOS devices. Jobs defended the exclusion in a blog post published earlier this year, citing Flash's "reliability, security and performance" issues.

"Flash is a successful business for Adobe, and we can understand why they want to push it beyond PCs. But the mobile era is about low power devices, touch interfaces and open web standards – all areas where Flash falls short," Jobs wrote. "New open standards created in the mobile era, such as HTML5, will win on mobile devices (and PCs too). Perhaps Adobe should focus more on creating great HTML5 tools for the future, and less on criticizing Apple for leaving the past behind."
