11 Signs President Obama Is Basically An Honorary Asian

The time has come to honor President Obama for dutifully and skillfully serving as leader of the free world as his second term comes to a close.

But you know what else he’s skilled at? All the Asian things. Yes, Barry eats pho, grew up in Indonesia and married a lawyer.

So Obama, as your presidency nears the end, we Asians would like you to know you always have a set of chopsticks at our table. You are hereby officially an honorary Asian.

But in all seriousness, some say Obama may, in part, be responsible for Asian-Americans’ shift in demographics ― switching from being predominantly Republican to identifying as Democrats at a quicker pace than any other racial group.

Of course, Donald Trump speaking in a broken English accent to mock Asians and his proposal to block immigration from the Philippines likely contributed to the shift as well.

Jay Chen, a Democratic Taiwanese American politician, says the change is partially due to the belief that Obama is, well, basically one of us.

And we couldn’t agree more. Here are all the ways he just speaks to us, ya know?
