BALTIMORE, MD—Following the Baltimore Preakness Stakes this year, licensed clinical professional counselor and certified Imago relationship therapist Rabbi Shlomo and his wife Rivka Slatkin will place their bets on couples finding healing and reconnection through a carefully crafted marriage retreat.

The marriage retreat will take place at the Towson Marriott at 10 W. Burke Avenue in Baltimore on May 21 and 22. The retreat is called “Getting the Love You Want” because it is closely based on the best seller of the same name by Harville Hendrix, Phd, who personally developed the mechanics of the workshop over a 16-year period.

“Our intention with this workshop is always to offer extensive, transformative marriage counseling equal to about 6 months of regular therapy in one weekend,” mentioned Rabbi Shlomo Slatkin. “By the end of those couple of days, our guests will have insights on how to create a deeply satisfying and long-lasting relationship with his or her partner, with plenty of tools in their back pocket for better working through issues together.”

Right out of the gate, Rabbi Shlomo and his wife Rivka lead participants through various kinds of power struggles that occur in relationships as a natural part of love. They help guests see important clues in those disagreements that will point them in the direction of healing through a process of guided conversation and positive support.

There’s an option for couples to work privately if they so wish, participating in group events but having the difficult conversations alone. There will be plenty of time for practicing the Imago Therapy Dialogue technique, and always a helpful hand nearby if participants get stuck.

“Working together with other struggling couples toward the common goal of saving a marriage can be incredibly helpful to the couples that find us. Hearing stories, dedicating two full days to each other, and practicing helpful and time-tested techniques for communication and discussion leave couples feeling hopeful and motivated to care and love again,” remarked Rabbi Shlomo Slatkin.
