Young Mother Killed By Reckless, Drunk Driver, Police Say

Police in Texas say a young mother is dead after a drunk driver crashed into her car.

Priscilla Alanis, 19, was parked on the shoulder of Interstate 45 in Hutchins with her emergency lights on when a reckless driver slammed into her car at about 4:30 a.m., Sunday, the Dallas Morning News reports.

Authorities say that Eustorgio Gomez-Gutierrez, 24, was driving his truck southbound when he veered out of his lane. Emergency responders rushed Alanis to Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, where she was pronounced dead.

Alanis was the mother of a 1-year-old boy named Eli, according to MyFoxDFW. She lived in Ferris with her sister and her boy.

Friends described the victim as a talented athlete who played volleyball for Cedar Valley College.

Priscilla was an amazing person inside and out, the kind of person that lit up a room as soon as she walked in. She was a devoted Christian, a loving mother, daughter, and sister. There are no words to describe the impact she had on everyone she met during her life.

Gutierrez was charged with intoxication manslaughter.
